SEN. MONDAY OKPEBHOLO’S MESSAGE AS EDO CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY.

Today, as Edo State marks 35 years since its creation, I extend my warmest greetings to all Edo people at home and in the Diaspora.

The creation of Edo State on August 27, 1991, was a defining moment in our history. Thirty-five years later, we celebrate not only how far we have come, but also the responsibility we carry to build on the foundation laid by those before us and create an even better future for generations to come.
Edo is blessed with a rich cultural heritage, talented and resilient people, vast economic potential and a strategic position that gives us an important role in Nigeria’s development. Our greatest strength, however, remains our people, their courage, creativity, enterprise and determination to see our state prosper.

As a government, we recognise that the work of development cannot be achieved through words alone. It requires consistent action, responsible leadership and a commitment to delivering results that people can see and feel.

Through our SHINE Agenda, we are focused on making progress across the areas that matter most to our people - Security, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Natural Resources & Agriculture, Education, Human capital development and Economic growth. We are strengthening our institutions, improving critical infrastructure, investing in our people and creating the conditions for businesses and industries to thrive.

We are also building on the contributions and achievements of previous administrations, traditional institutions, the private sector, civil society and every Edo citizen who has contributed in one way or another to the growth of our state. The development of Edo is a collective responsibility, and no government can achieve it alone.

Our administration remains particularly committed to creating a safer Edo, improving access to quality education and healthcare, upgrading our roads and urban infrastructure, expanding energy capacity and opening up more opportunities for our young people and businesses.

As we celebrate this milestone, I call on all Edo people to remain united and committed to the common good. Our differences must never be greater than our shared identity as Edo people or our collective desire to see our state succeed.

The next chapter of Edo’s story must be defined by practical action, shared prosperity and sustainable development. We have the people, the resources and the potential. Our task is to put them to work.

On behalf of the Government and people of Edo State, I wish all Edo people a peaceful, prosperous and memorable 35th Anniversary.

Happy 35th Anniversary, Edo State.
A New Edo Has Risen.

~ Sen. Monday Okpebholo
Executive Governor of Edo State
