The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, for House of Representatives, Oredo, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, formerly served in the capacity of a Commissioner for Education and Executive Chairman of SUBEB. In both capacities, he didn't just occupy position, but excelled in service to the people, state and government which appointed him.
Prior to his appointment, Sen. Monday Okpebholo observed the stagnant and poor state his administration met Education, when he took over office in 2024 and outrightly he knew that for there to be a change and transformation in the sector, he needed a go to man, who would deliver the sector and clear backlog of systemic delays and scale through hurdles.
At that point he brought in Dr. Paddy Iyamu, to come in and help sanitize the system to review the policies and strategies in order to get the system out of the pathetic condition it was handed over by the past government.
Barely a year after he took over affairs at the Ministry of Education, the transformation became visible, from clearing backlog of Medical students who couldn't induct due to council issues, to addressing the infrastructral inadequacies across public schools and employment provision for more teachers, one step at a time, Education in Edo began to experience a positive shift.
His policies also sought to stop the exploitation of private school owners in the state, who had a field day milking parents and students, through exorbitant ceremonies and misplaced conducts, that does not reflect an ideal education system.
Public schools thrived in external competitions also, because he closely worked with principals and teachers to ensure that students were thoroughly bred to compete with their contemporaries from anywhere.
While his chapter at the Ministry of Education, might have been concluded, this visionary leader, is not done yet with his service to the people as he sets to open a new chapter of charismatic and purposeful leadership for the people of Oredo, in the next legislative session, as a member House of Representatives.
Dr. Paddy has been tested and trusted. He has done it before for Edo people and will do it very much again for the people of Oredo, who have continue to benefit immensely from his leadership strides.
